In order to display the weather both on my home computer and this site we use Weather Display

this allows 24 graphical display of

all the weather data received by the station and allows automatic updating to the website as well as a

host of other sites we provide information to.

South Shields Weather Station was setup by Dale Checksfield an avid meteorologist. Currently 23 years old and

although not born there now lives in South Shields, Tyne and Wear.

Dale has an active interest in Meteorology and until recently enjoyed teaching the subject to children
and adults through the Sea Cadet Corps.

A former Meteorology Examiner in the Corps he regularly taught courses to both adults and children in the aim of promoting meteorology.

Dale has been fascinated by the weather since he was young and now, fortunately has the ability to combine his hobby

with his job and have the pleasure of passing on knowledge to others.

Working for the Ministry of Defence as A Navigating Officer he is often out of the country for long periods but fortunately
he has a good team of people to look after

the station while he is away.

His other hobbies include being a part of a Coastal Search and Cliff Rescue Team based in Sunderland.

Dale is a proactive member of both the Royal Institute of Navigation and the Royal Meteorological Society
